Wombat/OPRA on Sun Fire X4600 M2 with Solaris 10

Single server handling Jan 08 OPRA at 0.5 ms with 309 updates/second/watt STAC has released a study of Wombat/OPRA Feed Handlers on Sun Fire X4600 M2 with Solaris 10. The system used 29West Latency Busters Messaging 2.3.4, running on the Sun Fire server with 8 x Dual Core AMD Opteron 2.8 GHz processors and Solaris 10 update 3. In the benchmark, multiple OPRA Feed Handlers were run on the Sun Fire X4600 M2 server. The benchmark demonstrated that 2 Sun Fire X4600 M2 servers can accommodate OPRA's January 2008 projected peak update rate with approximately one-half millisecond end-to-end latency. Results also indicated that the X4600 could deliver an estimated 309 updates per watt. Click here to download the report.
