Michael has been in the technologically fast-paced and ultra-low-latency business of Automated Options Market Making for the last decade. Before that, he was a founder of several startups in the biotech and bioinformatics sectors, while also maintaining advisory board positions in medical AI and remote learning startups. Alex is a serial entrepreneur having cofounded and led four startups including FarSight Financial Services, the first Internet brokerage and Gomez, Inc, the leading Internet Performance Management company. Ellis serves as lead architect of the Object Storage Device (OSD) team, which focuses on the research, design, and development of enterprise-class storage nodes within PanFS. In the most recent product, ActiveStor Ultra, his team developed an OSD software stack capable of leveraging five tiers of memory and storage media (DRAM, NV-DIMM, NVMe SSD, SATA SSD, HDD) in a purposeful, performant, and transparent fashion. Ellis has been at Panasas since 2011, having joined first as an intern working with co-founder Garth Gibson while he finished his Ph.D. thesis titled: “A Protean Attack on the Compute-Storage Gap in High-Performance Computing.”
