STAC policies on participation in meetings, forums, and other means of communications

Updated 9 July 2014

The following policies apply to member firms in the STAC Benchmark Council as of the date above:

  • There is no limit to the number of representatives per firm in working groups and special interest groups (SIGs).
  • There is no pre-determined limit to the number of representatives per firm in each meeting of a given working group or SIG. However, if STAC determines that limitations are required in order to facilitate orderly operation of the group, it will establish limits that apply equally to similarly situated firms (e.g., vendors might have a different limit from user firms).
  • Most decisions in the spec-development process are by consensus of user firms. If a formal poll is required, then one rep per firm may vote. (Note: this is separate from the process for up-or-down votes on the specs when presented to the full Council, which is spelled out in the Council agreement.)
  • There is no limit to the number of representatives per user firm at STAC Summits.
  • Vendors are limited to two representatives per firm at STAC Summits, except for sponsors. Terms for each STAC Summit are detailed in advance and available from STAC.
  • Use of discussion forums on the STAC website is governed by the Terms of Use. In conjunction with those, some simple rules of etiquette will ensure that the forums remain a useful tool for members:
    • Don’t flame people or products.
    • Try to understand other members’ points before responding.
    • Be concise.
