Big Data

STAC defines "big data" as a workload that is difficult or expensive to handle using traditional technologies, largely due to data scale or complexity. This definition is inherently contextual. A workload that one industry considers big data might be standard fare in another. But it provides a good basis for discussions around engineering challenges in financial institutions, new technologies to solve them, and benchmark standards to assess those technologies.
