STAC Council and "Kelvin Celebration" - December 17
Credit Suisse to host first general meeting of the STAC Benchmark Council
STAC will hold a general meeting and mixer for the STAC Benchmark Council on December 17 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm in New York. Peter Lankford and other members of the STAC team will provide an update on the Council’s progress, its emerging structure, and the plan for 2008. We will also review related STAC activities, including recent research.
Credit Suisse has been kind enough to host the event in their superb meeting space at One Madison Avenue in Manhattan. Andy Brown, Managing Director and CTO for Infrastructure at Credit Suisse, will kick off the meeting with some reflections on trends in capital markets technology.
We’ll follow the meeting with an industry mixer. The theme for the event is a tribute to Lord Kelvin, the seminal Scottish physicist who said: “When you cannot measure [something]…, your knowledge is of a meager and unsatisfactory kind.” As a group that is dedicated to measurement, STAC is fond of this quote. December 17, 2007 is the 100th anniversary of Kelvin’s death. To honor him, we will have a scotch tasting for those of you who would like to partake (and other drinks for those who would not).
The meeting will be open to current voting and non-voting members of the Council, as well as trading firms or trading venues that are considering joining and would like to learn more. Admission is free. Given that, we may need to limit attendance per firm in order to ensure a balance. An RSVP from you and a confirmation from us are required to attend.
To RSVP, please log in at www.STACresearch.com and click “Edit Your Profile”. Please ensure that your profile is up to date, then locate the new field at the bottom of the form that reads: “I would like to attend the Dec 17 event.” Simply check the box and click “Update”. We will begin sending confirmations by email during the week of December 3.
