STAC Report: kdb+ 3.1 with IBM FlashSystem 810 on IBM System x3750 M4

Performed better in 13 of the 17 response-time benchmarks than the next best system with flash storage, four Sandy Bridge CPUs, and kdb+ 3.1.

1 November 2013 - New York

STAC has just released a STAC Report covering audited STAC-M3 Benchmarks of Kx Systems kdb+ 3.1 hosted on an IBM x3750 M4 Server with four 8-core Intel Xeon E5-4650 (“Sandy Bridge”) CPUs and two IBM FlashSystem 810 storage devices.

Compared to the next best public results from systems using flash storage, four Sandy Bridge processors, and kdb+ 3.1, this system performed better in 13 of the 17 response-time benchmarks, including:

  • 6.3x to 1.8x speedup in the HIBID benchmarks (STAC-M3.v1.1T.[YR/QTR/MO/WK]HIBID.LAT2).
  • 1.6x speedup in STAC-M3.ß1.1T.VWAB-12D-NO.LAT2.
  • 1.4x speedup in STAC-M3.ß1.10T.THEOPL.LAT2.

Qualified members of the STAC Benchmark Council can access the report here.
