STAC Report: Oracle Cloud Infrastructure with NVIDIA SXM4 GPUs under STAC-A2 (derivatives risk)
New records in cloud price performance

STAC recently performed the first STAC-A2 Benchmark tests on a system in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. The stack under test (SUT) consisted of CUDA 12.2 with 8 x NVIDIA A100 SXM4 40 GiB GPUs in an Oracle Cloud Infrastructure BM.GPU4.8 instance.

STAC-A2 is the technology benchmark standard based on financial market risk analysis. Designed by quants and technologists from some of the world's largest banks, STAC-A2 reports the performance, scaling, quality, and resource efficiency of any technology stack that is able to handle the workload (Monte Carlo estimation of Heston-based Greeks for a path-dependent, multi-asset option with early exercise).
Oracle Cloud Infrastructure wished to highlight several results from this report:
- Compared to all publicly reported solutions to date, this solution demonstrated the best price-performance among all cloud solutions (48,404 options / USD) over 1 hour, 3 days, and one year of continuous use1
- Compared to the most recently audited, single-server cloud-based solution (INTC221006b), this solution:
- Demonstrated 3.2x, 3.2x and 2.0x price-performance advantages (options / USD) for 1 hour, 3 days and 1 year of continuous use respectively1
- Had 14.6x the throughput (options / second)2
- Demonstrated 6.8x / 7.8x the speed in cold / warm runs of the baseline Greeks benchmarks3
- Demonstrated 9.0x / 4.3x the speed in cold / warm runs of the large Greeks benchmarks4
- Compared to a non-cloud SUT using 4 (vs. 8) of the same GPUs used here, and previous versions of CUDA and the STAC-A2 Pack for CUDA (NVDA221007), this solution:
- Had 1.9x the throughput2
- Demonstrated 2.6x / 2.2x the speed in cold / warm runs of the baseline Greeks benchmarks3
- Demonstrated 2.3x / 1.5x the speed in cold / warm runs of the large Greeks benchmarks4
- Was able to process 1.9x the correlated assets and 3.0x the Monte Carlo paths in 10 minutes5
