STAC Report: Wombat Transport on Sun Fire X4200 with Solaris 10

Transport latency of just 84 microseconds over Gigabit Ethernet STAC has released a study of the Wombat market data distribution system using 29West Latency Busters Messaging on a Sun Fire X4200 M2 with 2 Dual Core AMD Opteron 2.8 GHz processors and Solaris 10 update 3. The goal of the project was to minimize transport latency. In the benchmarks, the Sun solution was able to deliver a very low overall mean latency of 84 microseconds over standard Gigabit Ethernet.
