STAC Report: Voltaire InfiniBand Cuts RMDS Latency

Voltaire IB reduced mean latency by up to 46% vs Ethernet. STAC has released its first study of RMDS on a system using InfiniBand. The system was the HP ProLiant DL380 using dual core Intel Xeon processors, the same system that STAC had previously tested with Ethernet networks. In the benchmarks, the Voltaire solution reduced latency by up to 46%. Using expected 2007 peak update rates, the difference amounts to a quarter millisecond for US level 1 equities and nearly half a millisecond for OPRA. Click here to read the report.
