STAC-A2 is the technology benchmark standard for financial market risk analysis, evaluating the performance, scaling, quality, and resource efficiency of stacks capable of running a compute-intensive workload: Monte Carlo estimation of Heston-based Greeks for a path-dependent, multi-asset option with early exercise.

STAC performed an audited benchmark against a SUT consisting of:

  • STAC-A2 Pack for oneAPI (Rev R)
  • Intel® oneAPI Base Toolkit 2025.2
  • Intel® oneAPI HPC Toolkit 2025.2
  • Amazon Linux 2023
  • Amazon Web Services (AWS) Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) c8i.metal-96xl Instance
    • 2 x Intel® Xeon® 6975P-C Processors
    • 24 x 32 GiB DDR5 DIMMs @ 7200 MT/s; 768 GiB total
    • 2 GB Amazon Elastic Block Store1

Compared to all other AWS Instance results to date, this EC2 c8i.metal SUT was the most price-performant AWS solution ever tested.

Compared to prior generation Amazon EC2 c7i.metal SUT and the revision N of the pack (SUT ID INTC240809), this Amazon c8i.metal solution delivers:

  • 3.31x the throughput
  • 1.57x better price performance for 1-hour burst and 3-day period
  • 1.44x better price performance for 1-year period
  • 10.89x / 2.10x the speed in cold / warm runs of the baseline problem size
  • 2.82x / 2.40x the speed in cold / warm runs of the large problem size
  • 1.26x the number of correlated assets simulated in 10 minutes

Compared to all other results published to date, this SUT set a record for the fastest cold time for the Baseline Greeks benchmark, 34.7 ms.

Compared to the most recent Oracle Cloud Infrastructure SUT (INTC231113), this AWS EC2 c8i.metal SUT delivered 1.4x the price-performance over 1 year of continuous use at 28,501 options / USD
