Patrick Angeles, Chief Architect for Financial Services, Cloudera.
Patrick has over six years of experience as a Hadoop architect, and has presided over several large-scale Hadoop rollouts in financial services and other industries. Prior to Cloudera, Patrick was the chief architect at Simulmedia, where he built a scale-out log processing and analytic engine for audience measurement using Hadoop. In his 20 year career, Patrick has held various technical management and leadership roles in the areas of big data, e-commerce, web analytics, security and cryptography. Patrick holds a BA in English and Computer Science from Oberlin College.

Chris Bartlett, Partner, QuantMass.
Chris has 10+ years’ experience of developing and trading automated systems. He has been on the buy and sell side including JP Morgan, Swiss Bank and Nobilis Capital. Chris has researched, developed and traded a broad range of automated trading strategies and is currently at QuantMass Capital.

Mike Beller, Chief Executive Officer, Tradeworx, Inc.
In addition to heading up Tradeworx, Mike serves as a Managing Partner of it’s technology subsidiary, Thesys Technologies, LLC. Prior to becoming CEO in 2015, he served as Tradeworx’s CTO since the firm’s inception in 1999, architecting it’s industry-leading low-latency trading and big data analytics platforms. Mr. Beller has 25+ years’ experience in finance, telecom and information technology industries. Prior to Tradeworx, he co-founded PenVision, a mobile field force automation company. Before this, he was a research engineer in the areas of wireless communications and cryptography at Bell Communications Research (Bellcore). Mr. Beller received his BS in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University ('86), and his MS in Electrical Engineering from Columbia University ('88).

James Cantarella, Global Head of Machine Readable News, Thomson Reuters
James oversees the business and strategy of the company's enterprise feed proposition for news and text analytics. The Machine Readable News portfolio includes structured feeds of Reuters global news, Thomson Reuters News Analytics (TRNA) – the award-winning text analytics and sentiment engine — and Thomson Reuters MarketPsych Indices – leading multi-dimensional indices of social and psychological market sentiment. It also includes News Feed Direct – the market’s fastest feed of ultra-low latency economic indicators. He joined Reuters in 2007, and since 2011 his focus has been on expanding the company’s enterprise news, text and analytics capabilities. James completed undergraduate and post-graduate degrees at Washington University in St. Louis and the University of Chicago.

Joe Curley, Director of Marketing, Technical Computing, Intel.
Joe's primary responsibilities focus on establishing many core products and supporting development of the parallel computing ecosystem. Joe joined Intel in 2007 to manage planning and business activities that led up to the announcement of the Intel MIC Architecture in May of 2010, and launch of the first Intel Xeon Phi products in late 2012. Prior to joining Intel, Joe worked at Dell, Inc. leading the Dell Precision Workstation and the Dimension and XPS consumer / small business desktop product lines, as well as a series of engineering management roles. He began his career at computer graphics pioneer Tseng Labs.

Michel Debiche, Financial Services Practice Lead, ThinkBig Analytics
Michel earned M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Geophysics from Stanford and Princeton Universities. He has been involved in all aspects of quantitative trading since 1991. He worked in proprietary trading groups at Credit Suisse and Daiwa Securities America before creating the Global Equity Statistical Arbitrage desk at CIBC World Markets in New York. In 2002, Michel formed Quantia Capital, an investment advisor that has been involved in building several systematic trading operations. He has also consulted to financial services firms as well as their vendors in the areas of quantitative analysis, algorithmic trading, high-performance systems development, Complex Event Processing systems and enterprise risk management platforms. After a stint as Head of Quantitative Technology at First New York, a proprietary trading shop. Michel joined Think Big Analytics in 2013. Michel sees the rise of the Big Data ecosystem as a golden opportunity to apply the lessons learned in quantitative trading, a quintessential data driven business, to help large enterprises move towards driving greater business value from their growing data streams.

Bob Gaines, Director- BigData Solutions (FSI), Seagate

Ionel Gog, PhD Candidate, University of Cambridge.
Ionel is a member of the Systems Research Group at Cambridge, where he received the 2014 Google European Fellowship in Distributed Systems, which now supports his research. His skills span distributed systems, data processing systems, and scheduling. In the past, Ionel has interned in the YouTube mobile team at Google, in the Data Infrastructure team at Facebook, and at Microsoft Research. He has a MEng degree in Computing and Software Engineering from Imperial College London where he was awarded the Microsoft Research Prize for an outstanding final year project.

Terry Keene, CEO, Integration Systems, LLC.
Terry provides IT managers in buyside and sellside organizations with strategic perspectives on IT directions, technology analysis, and deployment alternatives for key initiatives. Terry has provided consulting services to over 1,000 corporations and organizations globally in many industries. His broad industry experience, along with his charismatic presence, has made him one of the most influential forces in the open systems market today. He has published numerous articles and been quoted in financial industry publications including HFT Review, Automated Trader, Financial Times and FOW - "Damn Those HFTs". Terry holds an MS in Electrical Engineering, with a major in computer engineering and data communications from the Georgia Institute of Technology. He is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York.

Peter Lankford, Founder & Director, Securities Technology Analysis Center.
Peter leads STAC®, which provides hands-on technology research and testing tools to the finance industry and facilitates the STAC Benchmark Council™, a group of leading financial institutions and vendors that engages in technical dialog and specifies standard ways to assess technologies used in finance. Prior to STAC, Peter was SVP of the $240M market data technology business at Reuters. Prior to Reuters, Peter held management positions at Citibank, First Chicago Corp., and operating-system maker IGC. Peter has an MBA, Masters in International Relations, and Bachelors in Chemistry from the University of Chicago.

Louis Lovas, Director of Solutions, OneMarketData
Louis’ responsibilities include strategic business development and delivering targeted solutions for quantitative research and trading systems. Louis brings over 20 years of experience in developing cutting edge solutions for financial markets and is a leading voice on industry trends, trading technology and Complex Event Processing (CEP) for Capital Markets. Prior to joining OneMarketData, Louis was the Chief Architect and Fellow of Apama products at Progress Software. Earlier in his career, Louis held numerous positions in the Financial Systems and Corporate Program Management divisions at Unisys Corporation (formerly Burroughs). Louis has a B.S in Business Administration/Management.

John Masserini, CISO, MIAX.
As Chief Security Officer for the Miami International Securities Exchange, John is responsible for information security, physical security, business continuity, and privacy for MIAX. An 18-year veteran of the security industry, John is responsible for all Information Security & Risk Management strategies, including Security Architecture, Regulatory Compliance, and Business Continuity. Prior to joining MIAX, John was the CISO for Dow Jones, overseeing security and risk management for all of the Dow Jones and Wall Street Journal brands. He has held key leadership positions at several information Security market leaders such as VeriSign and Guardent, as well as leading integrators such as EDS and SAIC.

Ron Miller, Technical Marketing Director, Solarflare.
Ron joins Solarflare with over 20 years of security experience. His prior experience includes serving as the Chief Security Scientist, Director of Engineering for Extreme Networks, where he led the technical direction of the company for all its security products, while managing the Emerging Products Division engineering group. Previously, Ron founded Mirage Networks, where he earned an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Finalist Award. Ron has also held a number of management and operations roles for companies including StoredIQ and M5 Systems.

Senthil Nathan , Program Director, Senior Technical Staff , IBM.
JSenthil is currently a senior technical staff member (STSM) at the IBM T.J.Watson Research Center in Yorktown Heights, New York. He has 30 years of professional experience in software research and development. He has played various roles including developer, architect/designer, and team lead for cutting edge software projects involving distributed network programming, Web services, SOA, and Stream processing. He served as an adjunct faculty member at the Polytechnic Institute of New York University [2005 To 2013] and taught graduate level courses on Computer Science special topics. In his current role, he works with many of IBM's enterprise customers in the Financial and Telco industries to implement highly parallel and high volume Big Data applications using the IBM InfoSphere Streams product and its SPL (Streams Processing Language) programming model.

Tony Pettipiece, Director of Sales, SR Labs.
Tony re-joined SR Labs after running sales and marketing for Cape City Command’s Trade Xccelerator product. Prior to that he ran the global Prediction Trading group at UBS. At J.P. Morgan, he managed market data development, deployment and support for the US, Asia and LATAM region. He has an extensive background in market data and low-latency infrastructure development and rollout, working with tier-1 banks, hedge funds and proprietary trading firms.

Oren Segal, PhD Candidate, Mora Research Group, University of Massachusetts Lowell.
Oren has more than fifteen years of experience in developing and managing software projects in diverse areas such as embedded systems, driver development, compression, high speed communications, automated trading systems, games and multimedia. He is currently pursuing a PhD in computer engineering from the University of Massachusetts Lowell USA. His main research interests revolve around high level and power efficient programming of heterogeneous systems.

Viral Shah, Founding Partner, Julia Computing, Inc.
Viral is a co-creator of the Julia Programming language - a high-level, high-performance dynamic programming language for technical computing. He also co-created Circuitscape and was co-founder and CTO of Fourth Lion. Prior to this, Viral worked as senior scientist at Interactive Supercomputing and as Manager (Financial Inclusion) at Unique Identification Authority of India, where he designed policies and technology for government payments and the e-KYC platform. Viral has published numerous papers and holds a patent on methods and apparatus for parallel execution of a process.

David Snowdon, Co-Founder & CTO, Metamako.
David is a Founder and co-CTO at Metamako, with his core role comprising product and technology strategy at the company. His role liasing with customers about their needs gives him a unique view into the challenges faced by such firms. Prior to founding Metamako, David gained a wealth of experience working in and for HFT firms, optimising their network structures, network performance, and building performance hardware, gateware and software. He has a PhD in Operating Systems, looking at and taking advantage of the effect of frequency scaling on power and energy usage. Energy efficiency has long been an interest, with ten years spent designing, building and racing high performance solar powered cars in international events. David’s team formerly held the Guiness record for the world’s fastest solar powered vehicle.

Dr. Salvatore Stolfo, CEO, Allure.
Dr. Stolfo is a people-person. And that makes him unique in a field where folks focus on machines. As professor of Artificial Intelligence at Columbia University since 1979, Dr. Stolfo has spent a career figuring out how people think and how to make computers and systems think like people. Early in his career he realized that the best technology adapts to how humans work, not the other way around. Dr. Stolfo has been granted over 47 patents and has published over 230 papers and books in the areas of parallel computing, AI knowledge-based systems, data mining, computer security and intrusion detection systems. His research has been supported by numerous government agencies, including DARPA, NSF, ONR, NSA, CIA, IARPA, AFOSR, ARO, NIST, and DHS.
